The painting juxtaposes the privileged dining behind a barbed-wire fence with the poor Nigerians struggling to survive outside it. It exposes the stark inequality, poverty, and disconnect between those in power and the suffering masses.

This project brings together my textile art and the creative talents of videographers and photographers Hiresh Sonoo and Sejas Mistry, whose collaboration helped translate the artistic concept into a visual narrative. The film features an artistic installation of a factory-uniform-inspired jacket, embellished with upcycled and hand-stitched polarised lenses, submerged beneath the sea. Through the discovery of the jacket by fishermen, the film invites viewers to confront the growing threat of plastic pollution and reflect on humanity’s responsibility towards marine ecosystems.

At 18 years old, I became aware of the many inconvenient truths about what our system does to the world. I discovered the connection between my European lifestyle and the negative impacts it has on the health, livelihoods and environment of distant people. This was an intense eye-opening year and I was flooded with emotions… The frustration and sadness that emerged from this pushed me to advocate for urgent action to change the system towards a more environmentally and socially sustainable one. I wrote these “Green Raps”, as a way to express my emotions and share my reflexions about these complex topics. I write down what I feel, what I think, what I care about, what makes me angry and what I want to scream to the world.
